Description

Production turkey call companies were tireless in their efforts to "build a better mousetrap" in the form of turkey calls in a highly competitive market. Preston Pittman was no exception. With the success of his one-sided box call, the "Boss Buster, he would build an experimental prototype to create two calls in one by adding a slate to the bottom of the call. Pictured is that call, labeled "Prototype, First One" and signed by Pittman. He had crudely hollowed out the center of the box's call base to turn the interior into a sound chamber, and then glued a piece of slate on as the calling surface. Ultimately, this call was not commercialized, but it stands as a testament to Pittman's innovative nature.
