A Turkey Hunting JournalDescription
Ray Berryhill may best be known in the turkey literature world for his partnership with Scott Branton. Together they co-authored five books, four of which were from interviews with Neil Cost and that series was a biography of Cost's life and callmaking. In addition they wrote a book on hunting the Ocellated turkey. Ray's solo endeavor to date started in 2001 when he published a limited run of a spiral-bound journal for turkey hunters to record their hunts. As advertised when it was re-released, "What's old is new again." Berryhill revised and updated the original Remember the Hunt turkey hunting journal in 2025.
This publication is designed to help hunters record, validate, and preserve details of 25 successful turkey hunts. It emphasizes timely documentation to maintain accurate memories. The journal provides tools for summarizing hunting data, such as patterns by day, time, season, and state, and includes space for personal reflections. Appendix A explains how to score a turkey according to National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) guidelines and register it officially. Appendix B describes the Grand, Royal, and World slams, defining each and listing the geographic ranges of the five turkey subspecies and the ocellated turkey.
