Biography by Steve Mann: I, Clarence Stephen (Steve) Mann am 71 years old as of March 2026. I worked for Eaton Corporation for 40 yrs as a Quality Control Inspector before retiring in 2021. I was always into hunting from an early age. I started out hunting squirrels, then got into deer and some bird hunting, as well as small game hunting. I got into competitive archery and also into golf. I met Neil Cost around 1995 i believe and got started with him learning to make calls in 1996. Neil started me out making field grade uncheckered calls then later graduated into checking the calls and making the paddle calls. I wanted to have something to do that i enjoyed after retirement and to make little extra money to supplement retirement. Neil was a huge influence on me. I was fascinated with him a a person and callmaker. We became great friends. My workshop now is behind my house in Greenwood, SC. I pretty much still do same checker patterns that Neil taught me. Have since gotten into making other types such as scratch boxes, one sider calls, and trumpets.Created By
