The American Wild Turkey by Henry E. Davis was published by Small-Arms Technical Publishing Company in 1949. Henry Davis was a trained Lawyer and a lifelong student of the outdoors. His first love, when it came to hunting, was without a doubt, the wild turkey. Davis penned several articles on turkey hunting for American Rifleman, and the publication was fitting, as he preferred to take his wild gobblers with a rifle. He was a staunch opponent of spring gobbler hunting and held a very strong opinion about those who hunted them during the mating season. I'll leave it to the reader to pick up a copy of The American Wild Turkey to learn just what those opinions were. Although by today's standards he may not be looked at in the brightest of lights due to today's popularity of spring turkey hunting and the universal acceptance of shotguns, he is undoubtedly one of the forefathers of the tradition of turkey hunting, and all who appreciate the sport of turkey hunting should read The American Wild Turkey. The book is considered a classic, and its dust jacket has attractive wild turkey art by Walter Weber.Context
Considered by many to be a cornerstone of turkey hunting literature.Collection
