The Original Hawg Trough by Quaker BoyEntry/Object ID
PTC003A0004Description
Trough calls are fairly common friction calls to encounter today, but their history only originated in the 1960s with the first known such calls made by Ray Chisholm of Laurel, MS. Many others would develop their own take on the trough, one such being Dick Kirby of Quaker Boy. He made a custom version under his "Originals" line of calls. His version of the call would be a double-sided one, and the first such we have seen is the one developed by Ben Lee and Lewis Stowe by at least 1975, although it seems not to have been produced in great quantity. Quaker Boy would later launch a production model of the call, The Original Hawg Trough, in 2016. The hardwood Hawg Trough base contained an aluminum strip, which dates back to Chisholm. The model 13695 Hawg Trough was paired with an Ash striker.Collection
