The Turkey Hunters, from the publishers of Turkey & Turkey Hunting Magazine, and edited by Brian Lovett, was published in 2003 by Krause Publications. Lovett, the recipient of the NWTF Tom Kelly Communicator of the Year award for 2025, is a well-known author who has written thousands of articles and several books on turkey hunting. He also served as editor for the Wisconsin Outdoor Journal and Turkey & Turkey Hunting Magazine. Lovett also serves as field editor for NWTF's On The Hunt. With a foreword by Jim Casada and featuring the photography of award-winning wildlife photographer Tes Randel Jolly, The Turkey Hunters is a book every turkey hunter should sit down with. The book is a compilation of articles from the pages of Turkey & Turkey Hunting Magazine, put together and edited by Lovett. As the reader will quickly find out, this is not a how-to book; instead, it attempts to explain what it is that draws thousands to pursue this grand game bird. Broken into three parts, the book first delves into the bird's history, then attempts to explain the passion so many may feel for this bird. Finally, it tells the story of the people and places that truly make this a special type of hunting.Context
