Tim Bullock began turkey hunting in 1989 with a close friend from home. After shooting his first turkey, he immediately knew he was hooked. After college, Bullock applied to be a game warden in North Carolina. As luck would have it, his childhood friend had also become a game warden just two years prior. They were fortunate to work together in the same counties of eastern North Carolina, where they once again began hunting, just like old times. After several years of working and hunting together, a devastating motorcycle accident took the life of his close friend and hunting mentor. This was devastating for Bullock, but he felt like he needed to continue. He wanted to do something to honor his friend, so he had the idea to build a turkey call to take into the woods, so he could make a wonderful memory of his friend, Eddie Vaughan, every time he used it.
Shortly after Bullock made his first call, he became enamored with the art of building turkey calls. This first call was a box call, a type he always loved to use. This began to take him further into what would be a wonderful journey in the art of callmaking. Early in Bullock's callmaking career, he began working on boxes, specifically Cost-style box calls. He loved the design and proven effectiveness of these calls. He worked diligently for several years to hone his craft, and in 2009, he entered his first NWTF Grand National Callmaking Competition. Fueled by his competitiveness, he began working hard to build the best call possible. One of Bullock's early mentors included Marlin Watkins, who invited him to his shop to assist him with building Box calls.
Tim Bullock continued to work hard and, throughout his career, has been very fortunate to win many coveted awards at the grand nationals, including the Jeremiah Stevens Award and the Champion of Champions Award, Callmaker of the Year, and Gibson Award for the best box call. Tim has now shifted gears in his call-making to include Turpin-style hen boxes, trumpet calls, and pushpins. Tim’s biggest passion these days is trumpet calls, which he primarily uses while hunting. Tim lives in Forest City, NC, with his wife, Shanon. They have 4 grown children and enjoy time with family and turkey huntingCreate Date
