Timothy Oldham, Jr. is 52 years old as of March 2026. He lives in southern Indiana, along the Ohio River. Anyone who knows him knows his passion for the wild turkey. An avid deer and turkey hunter, he draws inspiration and ideas from spending time in the outdoors. In 2003, two of his passions came together. When he started making turkey calls, Oldham realized he could combine artistry and creativity to make them unique and one-of-a-kind. Calls, Carvings & Creations became his full-time endeavor in 2020. He specializes in creating carvings, turkey calls, and unique heirlooms.
Oldham started competing in the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Grand National Custom Call Competition in 2005. He shared that it has been an amazing journey and an honor to have earned several top awards and ribbons. In 2023, he was inducted into the NWTF Turkey Competition Callmaker Hall of Fame. He has had the privilege of being featured in several articles, including an issue of the New York Times covering his turkey-call-making career.
His number one goal is to build a good-sounding turkey call first. His perception of the art he creates is to incorporate what he has witnessed in nature. With this, he feels that many people can relate their own experiences to his work. In doing so, it may spark a particular memory for them, whether it's a hunt or just a trip outdoors. Oldham enjoys bringing all these elements together with his customers to create a truly memorable piece for them to enjoy while hunting or to be displayed in a prized collection; he has a passion for creating functional art.
He builds pot calls, short boxes, hen boxes, and trumpets. He has two styles of calls, both of which are built to hunt: artwork and field grade.
Major awards include: being a six-time Earl Mickel Decorative Callmaker of the Year award winner (2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, & 2024), a two-time Ohio World Decorative Callmaking Champion (2018 & 2019), a Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving award winner (2018 & 2019), a three-time NWTF Wildlife Artist of the Year (2024, 2025 & 2026), and a two-time Decorative Champion of Champions winner (2018 & 2026).
He said he is truly blessed that God has given him the ability to create pieces of art that he is able to share with others. For Oldham, an important key element is to tell a story through each piece created. He feels his purpose is to create a piece that will be enjoyed well past the time he hears his last gobble.Created By
