Description

William Porterfield Tannehill filed a patent for a peg and slate call on September 8, 1959. Patent 2,958,157 was issued for his "Bird Call" was issued on November 1, 1960. It closely resembles the first model of the M.L. Lynch Jet Slate. The call illustrated in the patent is engineered so that the striker slides into grooves on the wooden frame of the slate. However, no such examples have been found, and he ultimately produced a striker that "nested" in the interior of the wood-framed slate.
