Description

Wooden ironing board, legs fold on wooden dowels. A wooden catch to adjust legs. Hole in board on wide end. Illegible writing on back.

Context

Folding ironing boards arrived as the Victorians challenged the inventors into finding better ways of managing their household. First portable ironing boards patented 1875. First ironing boards were a flat board placed across the back of kitchen chairs.
