Dear Amy:
It's been a season or two since we missed the
connection (by minutes) for your friends to claim
the Llewellyn Bull "box" from my quarters here at
West Point. Needless to say, I still have it, and
it is no less imposing a crate than I originally
described.
But now time has indeed marched on, and Marie and
I will retire this July to Hanover, Pennsylvania.
I think I will not take the box with me, as others
have not and for the same reason--it weighs more
than I wish to pay for its shipment. I will keep
it for these next few months for you or some other
member of the family who might like it.
I am rather sure than the next occupant of this
house will not be so favorable disposed toward it,
and it will be posted off to the local landfill.
Best regards; we hope to see you sometime before
we depart.
Sincerely,
[Signature: Jack]
