PILOT TURNS INVENTOR; CAMERA MOUNT RESULT
'Necessity is the Mother of invention' as the old saying goes. A device dreamed up recently by 1st Lt. Richard G. Bull is probably a good example of this; a movie camera mount for a T-33 jet.
The 'necessity' part of this came about around last April when Lt. Bull decided that he would like to make a movie of what a jet pilot sees in a formation flight going through the various maneuvers--aerobatics, take-off, landing, high-speed runs, etc.
Steady Mount
Since movies made while holding the camera in the hands didn't turn out very well (a wavy or unsteady motion is very apparent), Lt. Bull had an idea for a mount that could be placed in the canopy of the T-33. He contacted S/Sgt. L. E. Barry of the 1st Combat Camera Unit...
