THE WILLIAM BULL AND SARAH WELLS FAMILY ASSOCIATION, INC. "STONE HOUSE" HAMPTONBURGH, ORANGE COUNTY, NEW YORK May 19, 1952 To the Members of the William Bull & Sarah Wells Family Association: This is our Association's annual appeal for contributions. The interest of a large number of members of our family has been evidenced by enthusiastic attendance at the Annual Picnic at the Old Stone House. However, as your Treasurer, it is my duty to urge you all to contribute this year as generously as possible, for our finances are in rather bad shape. Other than contributions, our only income is a rental of $225 from the farm acreage and an income of about $100 on our Endowment Fund. We have, in the past, allowed our income to accumulate rather than use it for general expenses so that our back log might increase from year to year. However, last year we had to use the accumulated income to help pay for the installation of a heating system for the house. We have had other substantial, nonrecurring expenses in the past few years such as storm damage. In consequence, our checking account was exhausted and one of our loyal members advanced $300 without interest to meet current expenses, taxes and upkeep. This amount has not been reimbursed and there are no funds available with which to make such reimbursement. Accordingly, a wide response to this letter is urged. Most of us not only take pride in keeping our ancestral house in good order, but also feel affection for it; and, if we would all respond, our needs would be amply met, for our normal budget is modest. We wish to enlarge our number of contributors, so this letter is being sent not only to regular contributors, but to others who, although advised annually with respect to the Picnic, have not been heretofore requested to make contributions. Any amount, however small, is welcome and appreciated as evidence of your interest in this family institution. Checks may be made payable to "The William Bull and Sarah Wells Family Association, Inc." or to me as Treasurer, and should be sent to me at 115 Broad Street, New York 4, New York. Sincerely, THE WILLIAM BULL AND SARAH WELLS FAMILY ASSOCIATION, INC. [Signature] E. Myron Bull, Treasurer
