Deed Transcription: Samuel Bull to Hamptonburgh School Company
Be it Known and Remembered, That I, Samuel Bull of the Village of ~~Hap~~ Hamptonburgh in the County of Orange and State of New York, did in the Year one thousand ~~nine~~ seven hundred and ninety eight, sell a certain piece of land whereon my dwelling house stood, situated on the southwesterly side of the road leading from the school house in the said village toward Peter Moor's residence, now the place where the Englishman, Mr Abbot lives and said to belong to the estate of Benjamin Wade, deceas[ed] which piece of land thus sold (to?) contains about half an acre of ground, and adjoining our burying ground; which I the said Samuel ~~Bull~~ Bull did sell and convey to a certain Company of Neighbors for the accomodation of a village school, scholars and teachers, which association of the neighbors was then known by the name of the Hamptonburgh School Company and whose names were John Case, Jonathan Sayre, Peter Bull Jr., ? Bull, Gideon Coleman, Thomas Bull and Hezekiah Watkins; and therefore now be it known that I the above said Samuel Bull did sell the above said piece of land whereon my dwelling stood to the said Company of Neighbors for the consideration of Sixty Pounds or the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars current money of the United States, for which consideration I the said Samuel Bull, did sell and convey to the above said Company the said piece of land to their ~~Heirs~~ Heirs and assigns forever and this shall be a sufficient title to ~~the~~ them the said company until a bettr Title appears. Given under my hand and seal this Eighteenth Day of October, One thousand eight hundred and thirty-five.
