Lakefield 3mo 30/73 Esteemed Friends, Daniel Bull, I take the liberty of addressing these lines to thee and shall have to beg thy forgiveness for not doing so before, although I have often called to mind thy fatherly care for me while I was near thee and I now wish thee may extend to me the same. My situation at present is dark not having recovered from the injury I received while at Harvesttown with the D & G Greens, which left me in a lame and destitute situation. I have made since I have been at this place through the kindness of my employer (T Bragg) to make ends meet but he having stopped business and my still being lame and not able to work at my trade, has induced me to solicit the aid of the Friends of Cornwall, if there is any situation that I can fill I will do it with pleasure. I have thought that if there was any situation of an assistant teacher in a school. I think that I could fill it, and in a short period (if necessary) I do not know but I should be able to take charge of one. My health is pretty good, and I am in hopes through the mercies of Divine Providence that I shall have the use of my limbs ere long. God I have been so far favoured that it is healed and all that it now lacks is strength. Last week I could bear half of my weight on it, but having received a fall since, my ankle is very weak. They are turning out the stocks and will finish in about six or eight weeks, and where I shall go then or what I shall do for the support of my wife and child I am at a loss to tell, but I hope that some place may open near that and my meeting. With sincere love to thee and thy family I bid thee farewell for the present and am in hopes that I still remain thy Friend James P. Pinson P.S. Please excuse this scrawl my nerves are very weak and have not got over the fall I received last week. J.R.
