Eternal Friend,
We received a few lines from thee respecting Benjamin Eaton’s rights in the Estate of Theophilus Eaton, dec’d, so far as concerns the legacy left him by his brother Wm., that he has received years ago. That there is something coming to him in our state from the land Americus Eaton died. Of the legacy left by uncle to the will, we have remaining in our hands ($89.17) the one eleventh part of which (by the decision of the Surrogate of Orange County in settling up the Estate of Jacob Samuel Eaton, dec’d) Benjamin is entitled to, & which we have been preparing to pay to him, & still ready to pay, when called on, and would do so at any time when we can obtain a return of papers with their certificate of authority & upon receipt thereof, if any one in Goshen will verify the amount, we will remit the same by a draft payable at sight, or to other order in some one of our Banks & enclose the same to thee. Thy friend Friend Stephen, The above is what I would suggest to thee as the proper course and if you think proper, to say that there is any interest, do not hesitate the amount & then stop & labor to suffice.
Yours, J. B. BoothRelationships
