May 1st, 1903.
Dearest mother, you have left us,
We shall meet you here no more;
Death has called and gently bore
you from us, to that other shore.
Long your gentle steps have warned us;
Long we'd seen it on your brow;
Yet too soon we're called to speak it,
Oh! we've lost our mother now.
She has gone to rest forever
In that world that is free from pain;
Though we miss her, sadly miss her,
Yet our loss was her great gain.
She has met a joyous welcome;
Crowns immortal on her brow--
Keep us, guide us, Heavenly Father,
We have lost our mother now.
