My dear Robert:
Thank you so much for your letter and for the printed matter enclosed with all it's interesting information.
It was such a pleasure for me to meet Louis Brush and Virginia Thompson. We both liked Louis' daughter-in-law so much too and in short, had a most enjoyable trip and new experience of which we still talk. You will recall that we took a few snapshots and I send you the one in which you figure. My, what a big tall fellow you are to be sure ! And how much credit is due you for your interest in the Bull Clan. Long may it wave !
We went through the hurricane with very little damage...just a few old apple trees. Although the wind was terrific our old house did not even tremble but we did have three inches of water in the cellar and were without heat, light, water or telephone for four days, and trying to read by candle-light may have been alright for Sarah Wells but I am glad we don't have to do it now.
Country life, of course, must have some drawbacks - and after trying both of them I am convinced that it is far to be preferred to the excitement of the big city.
Thank you again for writing me and with all best wishes and kindest regards, I am
Yours sincerely,
