Dear Mr. Brown,
Right now, I have at home Headley’s Hist. of Orange Co. Because of the ages, it is slow reading and fascinating.
It gives the story of Isaac Wells and William Bull and speaks of a Charles B. Howell. Is he the Charles Baird you spoke of? Who were his father and mother?
In 1749 a Silas Pierson went to Campbell Hall from L.I. Can you find him in your papers? Whose son was he?
Now I have found Ogden Howell, s/o Charles Howell and gr. s. of Theophilus and his 1st W. Susanna Carpenter. This Ogden m. Mary Baird of Warwick, N.Y. Now it seems logical that a son of theirs could be Dr. Charles Baird Howell.
I do hope your records will show more children for Ogden and Mary Baird.
This is fascinating work. Do you know Mary J. Bull? She has been wintering in Fla. She requested a Coat-of-Arms picture, which I fortunately still had. When she comes home April 1st, I want her to call on my niece, Mrs. Petraceus, in Cornwall-on-Hudson. I think my niece, Miriam, hasn’t been too well this winter.
I was fascinated by the Isaac Wells story told by Headley. Are you a descendant of the Bulls? Mrs. Wait seemed a little vague on the issue, and I am wondering if she is slipping a bit.
She was Lillian Bull who m. as his 3rd w. Dr. N. Seley Hait of Newburgh, N.Y.
The Headley book has 997 pages so I know I can’t read it all.
I have read the towns and places most interested in, also all the biographies of many different names. Sometimes I see so much better than others. Today is cloudy and seeing is easier but I am going ahead with the 3rd operation of the left eye. It is my only hope to seeing again. The surgeon won't remove the other Cataract but I have a little sight there and am fearful of losing that little. If the left eye sees again, I may have courage and have it done. I guess I am a coward but 2 yrs. is a long time to be 3/4 blind.
With kindest regards
P.S. Is your address Emma H. Ross - Hamptonburgh, N.Y. or Campbell Hall, N.Y.
