Descendants to reenact Bull-Wells marriage
HAMPTONBURGH
A 250th wedding anniversary will be celebrated today in Hamptonburgh.
The couple to be honored by the reenactment of their wedding
ceremony are William and Sarah Wells Bull, who took their vows in
1718 and moved in 1727 into Bull House off the Craigville Road, the
scene for today's ceremony. A direct descendant of the couple, Ann Allison Eager of Campbell Hall will play the bride, wearing Sarah's original homespun, hand embroidered wedding dress, preserved by the eight generations of
Bulls who have occupied the old stone house.
Another relative, Robert Mitchell Hoppenstedt of Gardiner will
represent the groom, and the present occupant of the house, Michael
Knight Brown will be the magistrate.
The ceremony will be part of the Bull family's annual picnic, the
101st such gathering in Hamptonburgh.
