My dear Rob,
In a letter to Grandma, once you asked who Alphonse Jackson was, and spoke of having some letters signed by him. I have been looking over some old letters and data here, and can now tell you something about him.
Michael Jackson had a son William who had a daughter Mary. Rev. Richard Jackson had a son William, who had a

son William, who had a son Richard. This Richard married Mary, grand daughter of Michael.
Three of their children were Isabella, William Wickham and Andrew McDowell.
Isabella married Thomas Denton Wilkins and was my grandmother's mother.
William Wickham married
Catherine Conover —
child Richard Conover and
Catherine Moore —
child William Augustus.
Andrew McDowell married Susan Randolph Tucker and had at least one child this Alphonse. He was, I think, a naval officer, who

refused to fight against his old home, Virginia, in the Civil War, and was imprisoned for a while. In one of the letters he asks Grandma and my grandfather to come see him on his ship.
Now the question that is interesting me is how you and Eleanor and I are related. How do you come in? I have been telling Sheldon all about your old house and some day, we are going to look at it again, if you will let us. I well remember how very attractive it is.
I hope your mother and Eleanor are both well together

with yourself. It was awfully good of you to come to my wedding and some day I want you to meet Sheldon, and he to know you.
Your affectionate cousin,
Frances Hope Leavitt.
August 12, 1909.
Love to you all from us both.
It isn't polite to apologize for paper, but it is worse to send such paper without apology.
