Today's fall festival has family in mind
Amy Bull Crist is the honorary chairwoman for today's 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. "Fall Festival Under the Big Top" at the Goshen Historic Track. Admission is free.
Sponsored by the track's auxiliary, which Mrs. Crist founded, the fund-raising event is expected to attract hundreds of people. A rain date is tomorrow.
"We're billing the day as family entertainment, with something for everyone," said Helen Dana, chairwoman, who will be assisted by Renee Cizik and Ellen Leuner, co-chairwomen.
"It's the kind of activity we'd like to see families attend with a picnic basket or lunch," Mrs. Dana said. "There will be plenty to do. It will be like an old-fashioned outing updated with a few things like break dancing and clown face-painting."
The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a race for children 3 to 10 years old. That will be followed by a variety of entertainment, food, booths, Las Vegas games for adults, break dancing and arts and crafts.
Auxiliary members have made holiday decorations and crafts as well as homebaked goods to sell.
"The auxiliary has been working on the festival for almost a year," said Mrs. Crist. "Since they organized, the members have taken great pride in the Historic Track," she said. "They've enjoyed promoting numerous and successful activities through the year and because of their enthusiasm have made many people aware that it is the oldest active harness racing track in the country."
The schedule includes a puppet show at 11 a.m., Irish step-dancing exhibition at 2 p.m., rhythmic gymnastics at 3 p.m., and music by Blackberry Brandy with Ina Jo Donovan, singer, at 4:30 p.m.
Also participating will be members of the Wendy Cutting Dance Studio in Middletown.Relationships
