Event Overview
Occasion: The 106th annual Bull Family Reunion and picnic, celebrating the descendants of William Bull and Sarah Wells.
Location: The historic Bull Stone House in Hamptonburgh, Orange County, New York—a homestead built in 1722 out of native field stone.
Attendance: Over 300 descendants attended the gathering, traveling from across the United States (including Alaska, California, Texas, Wisconsin, and Virginia) as well as Canada.
Special Highlights
Colonial Costumes: In honor of the Bicentennial year, the event featured a "Colonial Dress-up" party and fashion show. Many family members wore period-accurate dresses with dust ruffles, aprons, and traditional colonial attire. Plans were also announced to hold another colonial dress-up party for the following year's reunion.
The Historic Quilt: A major highlight was the display of the Orange County Historical Quilt. The quilt featured a Linsey-Woolsey coverlet used for various purposes in the Bull Stone House dating back to 1722, alongside a bed covering made by a family member in 1840.
Awards and Recognition:
Oldest Attendee: Mrs. Mary Taft, 95, received a blue ribbon for being the oldest woman present. A blue ribbon for the oldest man went to Homer Bull, 91.
Youngest Attendee: Brian Kropski, born just a couple of months prior on June 5, received the blue ribbon for the youngest family member.
Longest Distance: Mrs. Genevieve Decker and Joshua Nave traveled the farthest distance to attend, coming all the way from Anchorage, Alaska.
