Scope and Content

The 111th Bull Family Reunion The Event: More than 300 descendants of Orange County settlers William and Sarah Bull gathered in Hamptonburgh for their 111th annual family reunion and picnic. The event is traditionally held on the Saturday closest to August 25 to honor the ancestors' wedding anniversary (marking 210 years during this particular reunion). Historic Recognition: A major highlight of the gathering was the announcement that the Bull Stone House (built in 1722 and continuously occupied by a family member) had been officially listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. Special Honorees: William Bull Cocks (93): Honored with a blue ribbon for attending 87 consecutive family reunions. Elizabeth Hunter (11 weeks old): Recognized with a traditional blue ribbon pin as the youngest and newest member of the family. Alma Gross and Anna Ringolham (91): Twin sisters who have been attending the reunions since they were eight years old. 50th Wedding Anniversaries: Two couples—Mr. and Mrs. Louis E. Brown and Mr. and Mrs. John Vandervort—were celebrated for reaching their golden anniversaries. Homer Bull: Celebrated his 9th birthday just weeks prior on August 10. Attendance: Attendees traveled from as far as Canada, England, and Florida, making it one of the largest gatherings of the clan to date.
