A Historical Correction
While the printed museum/display card spells it "Medias", the engraving on the spoon reveals the true historical name: Mendias Chapter No. 1, Order of the Eastern Star.
Established in July 1856 in Kansas City (then Wyandotte), it was actually the very first Eastern Star chapter in the state of Kansas. It was named "Mendias" in honor of Lydia R. Walker, a prominent Wyandot woman whose Native American name was Mendias.
