Sarah Wells' Descendants: Bull-ish About Heritage
The Event: Approximately 250 descendants of William and Sarah Wells Bull gathered on Saturday, August 6, 2011, for the 144th Bull Family Reunion.
The Location: The reunion was held at the historic Bull Stone House in Hamptonburgh, Orange County, New York.
Historical Significance:
In 1712, an 18-year-old Sarah Wells was given 100 acres of land to establish a homestead near the Otterkill, making her one of the early European settlers of Orange County.
Six years later, she married William Bull.
The upcoming year (2012) would mark the 300th anniversary of her landmark arrival in Orange County.
