The Rename: Local Goshen Girl Scouts were initially saddened when the "Sarah Wells Girl Scout Council" was renamed the "Heart of the Hudson Girl Scout Council". However, a new name—The Goshen Sarah Wells Service Unit—was officially approved and became effective on October 1, preserving her local legacy. Who was Sarah Wells? At age 18, Sarah Wells was an indentured servant who made a historic journey up the Hudson River to settle Christopher Denn's portion of the Wawayanda Patent. She later married William Bull. Key Figures & Celebrations: The community, including Goshen Service Unit volunteer chair Lisa Forst and Bull family descendants (Michael Brown, Melanie Latimer, and Sarah Brownell), met to celebrate the name restoration. The group began preparing for the 2012 tricentennial celebration marking 300 years since Sarah's historic 1712 journey.
