With utmost gratitude and sincere love, we wish Melanie Latimer all the best
Dear family members and friends:
It is with great reverence and a magnitude of appreciation, that we announce Melanie J. Latimer will be turning a new chapter in her life, and moving on from the caretaker position at the Bull Stone House. Melanie, 9th generation Line of John, Thomas, and William, has been the sole resident at the homestead for the last four years, and spent her childhood growing up in the Stone House when her parents and six older brothers and sisters were residents. She has balanced her responsibilities as a teacher, family member, board member, caretaker, and active community member. Most recently, representing the Bull family, and following in her father's role, as Master of Ceremonies at the 150th Memorial Day ceremony at the Hamptonburgh Cemetery. Over the years, Melanie has brought students from her elementary classroom to the Stone House, for local history tours, and to play on the lawns and roll in the maple leaf piles. Her love of her heritage, education, community, and the homestead is unquestioned. As this representative of the Brown family leaves the Bull Stone House in July, let us not ever forget the impact made by three generations, Lou and Jo, Michael and Betty, and Melanie, over the last 80 years in residence. Let's all take some time, and wish Melanie the best in her future endeavors, and thank her for her service to the Association.
The William Bull and Sarah Wells Stone House Association, Inc. board of directors is beginning to deliberate the next steps of procuring a new caretaker at the homestead. Additional information will be forthcoming as available.

William Bull and Sarah Wells Stone House open for tours this Saturday
CAMPBELL HALL — The Bull Stone House and New World Dutch Barn will be open for tours on Saturday, June 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. as part of the I Love NY Path Through History Weekend.
The house and barn, the only example of a New World Dutch Barn still standing in Orange County, are located at the corner of the Sarah Wells Trail and County Route 51. The house is a living museum that, along with the barn, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built circa 1722 by William Bull and Sarah Wells, who were among the first settlers in Orange County. Points of interest are the indoor spring, the pump, the root cellar and the dress handmade by Sarah Wells for her daughter Margaret, as well as many other artifacts of this historic colonial family.
The William Bull and Sarah Wells Stone House Association are participating in this event again this year and opening the historic house museum to visitors interested in local history.
The suggested donation is $2 for children, $3 for adults, and $8 for families. There are walking paths through the woods leading to the historic Hamptonburgh cemetery, where many Bull family members are buried.
