Dr Sir
Enclosed I send Twelve Dollars received of Mr. Benjn Carpenter a few days since which reduces the Note to something less than $50. & in this way perhaps the whole may be obtained. I shall continue to call on him whenever an opportunity offers. Should Jesse want a horse or new two horse wagon he might perhaps get the whole amount now as he has 2 horses & a wagon for Sale.
Friend Ebenezer I want to borrow $400 now within a month or two & if you could put me in the way to get that sum or any part thereof, you would very much oblige me. I can I think give such security as will be entirely satisfactory. Should want it to stand one or more years to suit the lender. Please drop me a line upon the subject & do what you can for me.
Very respectfully
Yours
H. Watkins
