Scope and Content

The Daily Journal. Entered at the Post Office at Newburgh, N. Y., as second class mail matter. NEWBURGH, N. Y. Wednesday Evening, January 13, 1892. -A quaint and historical costume to be worn by Miss Edna B. Harlow at the Old Folks' concert in the Cornwall M. E. Church, January 21, will attract much attention. The dress is of linen, and was made by Miss Sarah Wells, of Hamptonburgh, Orange County, N. Y., in the year 1718 (it being 174 years old.) It was woven by her from flax grown on her own farm. The beautiful hand embroidery and decorations could hardly be excelled in this day. Four generations have used this as a wedding dress, and it has been carefully preserved and is almost as fresh as new. It is through connections with the family that this dress was kindly loaned to Miss Harlow for the occasion.
