Tell Hunt to write me a good long letter and tell me about Henry. please answer this immediately and believe me Sunday Morning Feb. 13th 1848 your aff. cousin Julia [Main Section - Start of a new letter] My dear Cousin, I thought as I had an excellent opportunity I would write you a few lines to inform you how we are getting along nowadays although you should have written first to let me know how you fared getting home and what you have been about since I saw I have been expecting a letter every day and I thought I would not write until I received one but Mr. Eager called and told me he was going up the first of the week and I concluded not to let so good an opportunity pass without improving it. I have very anxious to hear how you were all getting on up your way and hope I shall soon hear. You do not know how lonesome we were after you left how many times we have wished for you we have been to three parties since we saw you you know we went to Miss Nine’s the wednesday after you left and the next wednesday we went to Emma Carle’s Sister’s and last friday evening we went to Mrs Ovingson’s where you and I called you know after new years she had quite a large party and we enjoyed ourselves very much indeed I do not know when I have spent as pleasant an evening. Mr Barry was there he came in the latter part of the evening with father to wait upon us home she said he inquired very particularly and said he was very sorry he had not seen you again before you went home he is a first rate gent you may depend. Last Thursday we were at grandfather Wilsons and spent the afternoon Julia inquired after you and so did Mr Coffin Sarah Irvin was there also, we saw Mr White and Mr Munn, she walked home with me, Mr Coffin with Mary, and Mr White with Sarah we had a very pleasant times indeed and Julia wished for you several time and so did I for I think you would have enjoyed yourself had you been there. We had a short visit from Martha & Eliza Ann they were here over Sunday we were up to Aunt Eliza’s in the evening and Samuel and Charles were there of course and waited upon us home. Is it very cold in D. Cty now we have had bitter cold weather for the past week. I presume you have had some sleighrides since your return I do not expect we shall have any sleighing here at all. How I wish I was coming up to spend a few days with you what nice times we would all have then wouldn’t we? I expect we would enjoy ourselves too much for any thing. Have you seen Ebenezer since you got home why didn’t he come down while you were here when you see him again give my best respects to him and tell him for me that he might have come down and we should have some real nice times tell him I shall give him a talking to when I come up next summer. How is Han give my love to her and tell her she must write to me and tell me what she was about when you was in New York [?] I often think about the horseback ride so do and all those things we used to have so much fun about ask her if she laughs as much as ever. Have you seen Dr Townsend since you got home if you have how is he and how is his wife I expect he is more sedate than he used to be but I guess I could make him laugh a little ask Mrs Carpenter what she thinks about it. I have not seen Eliza McDowel since you left but Mother saw her once at meeting with Rachel Seaman. The Miss Hay... called her one afternoon but did not stay long as I was busy fixing to go out in the evening. I have not seen David Ketchum nor Mrs Bayne since you have but expect every day when I shall. Mary carries on about David whenever whenever she gets in one of her glees. She is very well and says I must give her best love to you and Hansand [Tall?]. She says she means to answ[er] her letter before a great while but tell Tall for me not to be in a hurry for she is the greatest hand to promise ever was. Give my love to Tall and ask how Billy Millspaugh is tell her I hope there will be some more whortleberry frolicks next summer ask her if she don't too.
