1939 141 Russell St. Gisborne, N.Z. Mr. Harry Bull Campbell Hall, N.Y. Dear Bro Rotarian I was very pleased to get your note of 1st May referring to the photos of my son self in the Rotarian. My Father whose christian name was Henry came from Wolverhampton in 1851 and after spending about three years in N.Z. went to the Australian gold diggins where he did very well. He then went back to England to get married and settle down there but after a few months the lure of the gold drew him back to Australia where my two brothers and myself were born. When I was about sixteen years old we all drifted back to N.Z. and remained here ever since. I am now one of Gisborne's oldest inhabitants having been here for over 60 years. I am a foundation member of the local Rotary Club, my son who is an accountant was secretary for some years but had to give it up on account of his increasing business. My eldest brother, who is 85 years old and still going strong, is also a Harry Bull so it is quite possible that we may have had a common ancestor. You have just had a visit from our beloved King and Queen and they appear to have had a splendid reception I hope the result will be a closer tie between the two great English speaking nations and go a long way towards establishing a lasting peace in the world. As you are evidently interested in the Dairy Industry I am posting you a copy of our "Dairy Exporter" the editor of which is a personal friend of mine. With kindest regards and very best wishes for your welfare Yours sincerely Gilbert G. Bull P.S. I might say that I retired from business about six years ago and am enjoying myself by gardening and playing golf and bowls in their season. G.G.B.
