Dear friends
I suppose you expected to hear from me before this but since i moved i have been busy most of the time assisting in taking care of a sick friend of my Mother i am here and it is a good place of refuge but i dont feel it a place to set down and fold my hands while i have any ambition about me to help myself. we get our board which is a great favour and when we are sick have a place to come to and not be a burden to our friends but there are other things beside our board that we need and cannot do without and must earn it or go without they give us our time for that purpose and as long as i am able i feel happy in trying to help myself i work as hard now as i ever did when my Dear Mother and me were together but not with the same satisfaction there are trials and troubles here as elsewhere to be met with and we need grace and patience to bear them i am in the room with a person who has been here three years and has been alone untill now and she is so put out about it that she trys to make evry thing as uncomfortable as she can i feel very unhappy but the Matron who is an excelent woman assures me she will make it more comfortable for me as soon as she can make arrangements the fare is very plain but wholesome and enough of it there is about 50 sit down to the table at once and some who once had good homes and well to do but death and other changes have brought them here and they are smart and active and look as if they might get their living out in the world but perhaps they are a little lazy and don’t like to work or like myself could not meet the expenses of a home and not strong enough to do hard work in familys
I think i will come in the country in july i do want to see Aunt jane and if i can will come to your house it is expensive and a good way off from aunt Janes you must come there
if i dont get to your house we have the privelege of having our friends coming to see us and i want you to come down and see the place and i want to see you very much. You seem nearer now than ever. I feel remmember me to Aunt Betsy and Uncle William very lovely
my love to you all
