Subject

November 1, 1915. Mrs. Benjamin Lothrop, 81 Breckenridge Street, Buffalo, N. Y. My dear Mrs. Lothrop: Mr. Theodore Bull of your City tells me that you are a granddaughter of Absalom Bull, who was a son of Cadwalader Bull, and as I am desirous of obtaining certain information with regard to Cadwalader Bull's family, I am taking the liberty of writing you for it. An effort is being made to write the Bull family history, and my family, which owns and occupies the old Thomas Bull Stone House, built in 1769, has been asked to write a chapter for the book on the history of that house. Thomas Bull built the house and lived there until his death in 1801, when he willed it to his son, Cadwalader Bull. The public records are then silent with regard to the place until 1835, when my grandfather, William Wickham Jackson, bought it, and it happens that my grandfather's wife was a direct descendent of Thomas Bull, and so by good chance the property has come back to descendents of the original builder. What I want to find out is how long Cadwalader Bull or his family continued to and got it that way. Have you any recollection or any records, letters or other data which would indicate how long Cadwalader Bull lived there, or even that he lived there until a certain date? Do you know where he moved from there? If you could throw any light on this question it would be greatly appreciated, as also would any information you could give me as to the descendents of Cadwalader Bull. Those preparing the history are seeking information as to the names of all these descendents, with the dates of their births and deaths, the names of the persons they married, the dates of their marriages, and the dates of birth and death of the persons married, and any information which you could give me along these lines would be greatly appreciated. I enclose a stamped addressed envelope for reply. Sincerely yours, RMcLJ-MC
