Subject

Seventh day My dear Betsy Bull Our friends J and Sarah Wood received a letter last week from Ezra Collins announcing the final release of his daughter Hannah from all her suffering to be here and her entrance into the blissful abode of all the pardoned and redeemed of the Lord. Is it not cause for rejoicing that the struggle is ended and she is at rest— She had been at home about 10 days, and was very happy in being privileged to end her life amidst her family— She failed very gradually after her arrival at home and died on the 30 of last month—just 2 months from the time thou saw her in this City — Ezra wrote the day following her decease and did not give any detail but promises to do so before very long he said that she gave directions about her children her dress, the funeral &c with more calmness than if she had been in health and very quietly and peacefully departed “Alas for the two that are tender and one that she babes, alone on his journey of woe” our friend L M Stray has left us for Fairburg 2 Meeting and to visit his mother he was very ill when he left and hurried away believing that the air of the City disagreed with him but he brought a bad cold with him from New England and did not seem to have been so much benefited by his journey there as he had fancied — his cough arising from irritation in the throat was very wearing — but we hope that he may find his native air more congenial and bracing, but he is more discouraged about his recovery than ever before — and said that he did not think he should live six weeks unless he could find some means to relieve the irritation in the throat and general prostration of his strength — I am promising myself soon to pay thee a visit how pleasant it will be to sit down with thee in thy quiet home once more — if Stephen had visited us this week I might have gone up with him. Mother is again in usual health and sends her love to thee accept mine to thyself and husband. Stephen H Bull for Elisabeth Bull Oxford Depot
