Dear Amy,
Thanks for your letter, sorry we did not see you before we left, — our trip was uneventful but pleasant, two days were quite rough —
I am interested in what you tell me about the Chairmanship, especially Phil's re-action, —
re-action, — Of course I am so discouraged with the over all election results that I agree with King Macg. that our Party has been put back at least 20 yrs —
Dewey should have campaigned vigorously on the record of the 80th Congress, instead he went around breathing sweetness & light through that little black moustache
moustache & practically apologizing for us, — Well anyhow he is now as dead politically as last week's cold roast mutton so that is that, —
Our district was indeed an oasis in a very bleak desert, I am mighty proud of it, & us! —
I hope you enjoyed the Royal
Royal Winter Fair, it must have been a nice change. —
Am hoping to go into Berlin on the Air-lift, it will be very exciting & instructive —
My best to the family in which George joins —
As ever
Yours affectionately
Nannie
