Friend Daniel
I expected to have written before this to have either been out while I am moving in this land of Jeromiah or otherwise. If there is not among the sniping the two mile part baby or even when three mile I have the extreme felicity of of soon seeing Effie & Joe the Boys. I spent fourth of July at New Rochelle and came very near going to Mamaronack to see Effie but she got on acct of the rain, I have not been on the Island for some time but am going (Providence permitting) on Saturday the of this week. I suppose thee & Peter will come & both be down after Maud & Aunt comes over.
When thee rode out forget that I am in New York summer be formed and may in the City live at 31 Liberty St. in rooms — elegant and quite outing — I have some the best Equities as time I spend is rather precious and nothing for it is done in a hurry. My love to Peter and tell him not forget me when he comes down.
My love to all the members of the family excepting muds
Adieu, Adieu
I remain thy Friend
