Wednesday, September 1, 1971 CITIZEN HERALD 17 -- Bull Family Held Its 104TH Picnic HAMPTONBURGH - The traditional Bull Family picnic was held Saturday at the Stone House in Hamptonburgh with some 300 persons attending. The Bull Stone House of 1722 at Hamptonburgh, Orange County, is just off the Sarah Wells Trail at the Craigville road about four miles northeast of Goshen. James Wilson Link, Mount Kisco, N.Y. offered words of welcome. The Genealogy Committee had been authorized to begin the publication of the Family Genealogy. The work includes the first five generations which, it is hoped, will be contained in two volumes and is to include early episodes in lives of the members of the family. Also, it is hoped that publication of additional volumes will be accomplished. The committee has gathered data of many branches of the family to the 12th generation. The Bull Genealogy has been in conscious preparation for nearly two centuries. The first effort was made April 23, 1796 on the day of the funeral of Sarah Wells Bull. This was reported in a memorial which listed her 12 children and an enumeration of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren, a total of 335 descendants at the time of her death. Today, this number could be well over 50,000. In 1810, a further attempt was made to make up a family list with a suggestion that each respective branch report its additions every five years. In 1840, Professor Richard H. Bull of New York University prepared an outlined record of the Bull descendants up to that time, and of course, Eager's History contains much information and genealogical data of the Bull Family, he being one of the grandsons. Since that time, many members of the family have cooperated in keeping family records in anticipation of a publication of a genealogy. Plans were established at Saturday's reunion to help meet the financial cost for the publication of the genealogy. The printing and publication of volume one of the Bull Genealogy will be the job of T. Emmett Henderson of Middletown, who did the reprinting of Eager's History of Orange County. Henry P. Bull, 12 Robert Street, Middletown is accepting reservations for the copies of the genealogy. As is their custom, a basket lunch by each individual family was opened at noon this past Saturday. The youngest present was Scott Euvrard Jr., 14 months young, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Euvrard, Latham, N.Y. He, also, was the youngest at last year's Bull reunion. The oldest was Mrs. Nellie E. Ames, Warwick, 96. The oldest man was Michael Brown. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis E. Brown, resided there for 30 years and now lives in Montgomery. Wednesday, September 1, 1971 -- Children at Reunion HAMPTONBURGH - Among the 50,000 descendants of the Bull Family are Ted Bailey, 4, and his brother, Nick, 5, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bailey, Easton, Connecticut, who were present at the 104th annual Bull Family picnic at the 1722 Stone House, Hamptonburgh. William and Sarah Wells Bull took their vows in 1718 and moved in 1727 into Bull House off the Craigville road, the scene for the annual reunion and picnic. Youngest HAMPTONBURGH - Scott Euvrard Jr., 14 months young, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Euvrard, was the youngest present when some 300 descendants of the Bull Family met for their 104th annual picnic at the Stone House in Hamptonburgh. The tyke, also, was the youngest present at last year's annual picnic. Descendants came from Canada down to Florida and from California. 26 CITIZEN HERALD Wednesday, September 1, 1971 -- Oldest At Reunion HAMPTONBURGH - Mrs. Nellie E.
