Dear Sir – When you subpoena your witnesses you must pay them each 8 cents per mile for every mile from their place of residence to the Surrogates office. If there is a fraction of a mile you must count it as one mile & pay for that full mile. In computing the distance you must calculate by the most direct travelled route. You must also pay each witness 50 cents besides the mileage. I did not mention this to you when you were here, & I wrote you as you might forget it did money –
