Dear Mr. & Mrs. Bull:—
At last I feel able to write or at least make the attempt to write, for four weeks I have been laid up by sickness and I have been very sick at that—indeed it looked as though having out lived my three scores years and ten that my time for passing had come I am much better now but still very weak
Jean Hoeffler wrote me about her wonderful visit at your home and how kind every one she met was to her she was so delighted with her whole visit—that she wrote me a full account of it—
It surely was grand that she could meet so many of the friends I knew and to visit the "Old Stone House" She especially mentioned Mrs. Amy Bull Crist, Miss Shirley Beyea, Robert Jackson, Mrs Booth and Dolly and a Mr. & Mrs. Chamberlain, who I do not remember having met
I was pleased that she saw Shirley Beyea for any one who bears the name of Beyea seems very near to me for we are all descendants of the four brothers whose grandfather suffered death for his faith in France during the last great persecution following the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes Oct 22nd 1685
Jean was so pleased with her visit—that I guess she will not miss going to the picnic at the "Stone House" next year
Mr Jackson very kindly sent me a report of the picnic this year so it has been my good fortune to have had two reports of it
We are all disappointed that you were unable to come this way again this year and would liked to have had a visit from the president—Mrs. Amy Bull Crist—
Edwin Smith is some what improved in health his sister Mrs Kierstead is still with him and they seem very happy together
Here, excepting myself, all are well and have spent a very pleasant summer for a number of our relatives and friends have been to see us some of whom we had not seen for years
With every good wish to you and family, I remain,
Sincerely Yours,
Andrew S. Beyea
