W. S. Bull – story –
When his father was studying medicine in N.Y., he and others of the students wanted some medical books from Wood & Co., and old Judg have. None of us wanted cash, but the boys did not have it & wanted credit & the clk refused. Mrs. Wood, a Quaker, came and asked — “John what his name was” she told him — “What is thy father’s name?” “Milton Bull” — “Dost thee know Ebenezer Bull?” — he being abreast of the connection — Mrs. Wood said “thee can have what books thee wants”, being sure they will be paid for — (Louis Conklin, May this says this was one of the family stories).
Mrs. Connelly tells the story of when John Johnson having tried till 12 p.m. or so to get one of the children to sleep — finally she succeeded — she leaned over in her rocker and deposited the child as she thought, in the crib — as a matter of fact she had leaned to the window sill and dropped the baby on the floor! He had all her work to do over!Relationships
