Dear Cousins
Was more than glad to hear from you altho it was my fault not writing before. There has been a lot of things happened since I wrote last. Just three months after Aunt Florence died her neice that was keeping house for Mr Purvis Sept 4th “Grace Winslow” died very suddenly with a stroke & and of course that made things very hard as she hadn’t time to change her will and it left Mr Purvis rather stranded. He didn’t feel like breaking up his home, so I went in and stayed as Norman was away all summer working and so it ended with us closing up our home & going in and staying until 1st of May. Then he sold off most of his things & is boarding and renting the house so he is feeling quite good now. But it was some job for me.
Col. J. Jarvis’ brother Harry had a stroke last fall in the feild and lived about a week. So they are all alone now and trying to sell the place, but I have my

doubts if they will as for one thing they want too much and Florence wont leave until she is carried away. And that wont be very long if she still works the way she is doing.
Norman is away working down at Westfield near Saint John and I have had two boarders for six weeks but they have gone now. So I am all alone with the dog.
Will talked of going to see you last fall J. J. Frances Speer & myself and J. J. said if we would furnish the car he would pay expenses. But our car wasn’t running & Frances wouldn’t take hers on a long trip. But J. J. has a dandy new car & Norman may get off for a week so you may see us for the picnic but it may all end in talk. So we may occupy some of those beds yet. Wish you could come down when you could stay longer.
They are paving the road from here to Houlton this summer and cutting off some of those hills. Dont know who that Lucy Bull would but I have cousin’s in Presque Isle and going to find out from them.

Corydon Bull was never seen or heard tell of. His wife has left the place & daughter got married and the boy has gone to Ontario to work.
Thank you very much for the paper the pictures are very good and going to frame them. Will show them to the people.
We have had a very cold summer so far lots of rain, quite different from last year it was so very hot & dry.
Remember us to Harry B— and hope he is well and glad that your family are all well.
I am not putting to many hopes in the trip as something may turn up. Jarvis wont drive the car himself and Frances & I wouldn’t go & she doesn’t feel like doing it as she isnt very strong. But still we may get away.
Lots of love to you both and thanking you again for the paper.
Yours
Fannie B.
