LBZ 028 Whole cloth comforter, of block-printed design of flowers & foliate motifs in stripes. Colors are pink, brown, tan, & pencil blue on white. Four panels are pieced to create sufficient width, three panels at 24", last at 12". Front to back binding. Back is small pink on white print.
Appears to be an early fabric made into a comforter in the mid-19th century; fabric dates c. 1790-1810 while backing dates to about the mid-19th century. Tied with silk thread attached to wool "pompoms," approx. 3 ½ " - 5 " apart., lzb, 8/31/07.Interpretative Labels

This is an example of an item that was likely created out of leisure. Leisure time was more common within merchant and other prestigious classes, as servants and/or enslaved people would be tasked with various household chores. Instead of this labor, the schedules of wealthy women would be more likely filled with hobbies, social visits, and other leisurely activities.
