HS / w04508 / PH Sampler belonging and made by Elizabeth P. Perkins. (???) Unfinished. Initials E.P.P. From old home in Castine. Gift of Mrs. Leila Day June 1980 Unframed American alphabet sampler, upper case alphabet and unfinished lower case.15 1/4" x 14". Some fading. c. 1830. "Unfinished sampler, worked with cross stitches in black, olive green, light blue, and cream silk on loosely woven linen. The sampler has three alphabets in capital letters, the initials "EPP" and then an alphabet in small letters, followed by another alphabet in capital letters. A sixth alphabet (of small letters) is begun but not finished. The sampler has a simple border of a chain design. The edges are finished with hemstitching." lzb, 10/24/07
