Smith in regards to Smith's father, William Smith, a Civil War veteran. Dated Norton Heights, Conn., May 24, 1898, 10 a.m., in regards to "yours of the 23rd." "Just received. I wrote you yesterday. I cannot say anymore than in my last. Don't send him anything. Will Explain more fully to your sister when she comes. We have a man that shaves him (He your Father) has been shaved Every week since he came it cost 5 cts. If he needs anything will let you Know. Now will say that he is A Good deal better off here than you you or Anybody Else could do for him." [New paragraph:] Dont worry one bit. This is a Great many men have Far worse off than he is And they are allright. Tell your Sister to come if Possible by all means."Collection
