Name/Title
19th Century Doll with Armand Marseille HeadEntry/Object ID
2026.11.1Description
This doll features an Armand Marseille bisque porcelain head with weighted "sleep" eyes. While the Armand Marseille company, active in the late 19th and early 20th century, did create whole dolls, they also sold the heads on their own to other companies. This is an example of the latter. She wears a beige floral print dress, stained with age, with chemise and drawers underneath. She also has black knee high stockings with red cloth and leather shoes. She wears a necklace with a teardrop black and white jeweled pendant, though it is unlikely to be original to the doll itself. The hair is somewhat matted and the face dirty but other than that and the aforementioned staining on the dress, the doll is in good condition.Collection
