This Lamberton Scammell plate was commissioned by G. Fox & Co., a very large department store in Hartford, CT, around the 1930s. This exclusive scrollwork pattern was featured on a number of dinnerware items including plates, creamers, and salt and pepper shakers. The rim features illustrations of Hartford and surrounding areas around the time of the store's opening in 1847, while the inner ring shows the leaves and acorns of Connecticut's Charter Oak.
