Handmade Thread Dispenser BoxEntry/Object ID
2024.21.6Description
Made by Howard Cady from a "90+ year old Chestnut" from North Windham. The eyelets are porcelain, obtained from the American Thread Company, and the inside is lined with red felt, with six wooden spindles to hold the thread for each eyelet. The spindles each hold a plastic spool of thread in different colors. Along with the thread is a twisted wire threader, to help get the thread through the eyelets. There is a piece of paper taped to the bottom with the provenance, including the fact that Howard Cady made 20 such boxes for members of his family.Collection
