Description

A spool of beige Maysville Carpet Warp thread from the January and Wood Company. It is a full spool with intact label which suggests it be used for rugs and mats. The January and Wood company operated out of Maysville, KY and was active from 1851 to 2003. They were a cotton mill whose production focused on home weaving needs for cloth and rugs, as well as all-purpose string. The label also includes a call for weavers to join the Maysville Weavers Guild, also known as the Maysville Guild of Home Weavers. Members of the guild received a periodical called The Shuttle with tips and techniques for home weaving.
