Name/Title
The Growth of Industrial Art by Benjamin Butterworth c1890Entry/Object ID
2025.4.1Description
A large book of illustrations of technology through the ages. Each page has a series of illustrations, like the one shown, depicting a particular technology or technique and how it has progressed and been improved upon over the centuries. There is a very brief explanation of each progression at the bottom of the page. The author, Benjamin Butterworth, was a US Senator from Ohio and shortly after the publication of this book was appointed Commissioner of Patents. While the illustrations are for the most part in excellent condition, the covers are heavily water damaged, with the fabric covering coming away from the boards and the title of the book barely visible.Collection
